HSG will be having an Open Gym session on Saturday, March 2, from 12:00-1:30 pm. The cost is only $10 for non-members and $8 for members. This is a great opportunity to work on and develop skills on any of the equipment. We will have at least one coach available for tips and advice.
That Saturday morning our team girls will be holding their annual Cartwheel-a-thon around 9:30 am. The girls are getting sponsors from throughout the community, as well as family members to raise needed funds for team activities throughout the year.
Parents count how many cartwheels the girls can do in a five-minute period. Sophie Esparza, our Level 7 optional star, usually leads the field each year with her spectacular five-minute marathon. We will post the winner after this month's contest.
We would like to congratulate Kendra Wilson for being named January Gymnast of the Month! Coach Ellen and everyone at the gym is proud of her accomplishments throughout the year.
Congratulations to Sophie for her All-Around championship at the Winterfest meet in Flagstaff on February 16 and 17. She also captured first place in Bean and Floor events.
Allison Wampler, our Xcel Gold gymnast took second in All-Around, as well as first in Vault and Floor and 2nd on Bars! Rylee Ashford, Level 6, took 1st in Floor and 2nd on Beam, while her Level 6 teammate, Jordan Hawkins was 2nd in Vault and Floor. Madi Stephens, our Level 8 competitor, won Beam competition in her division with a 2nd Place finish on Floor.
